I just moved to Chicago from Southern California. I had a craving for kimbap! And I would usually find good kimbap at Zion market in San Diego or even at 99 Ranch. But unfortunately Chicago has neither of those stores. So I was excited to find kimbap here at this market. Although the selection is very limited compared to what I’m used to it was still good enough to fulfill my cravings. Chicago needs more Korean markets!

From a born-and-raised South Korean here… I absolutely adore this place. It keeps bringing me here every time I miss my mom’s home-cooked dishes back in Korea. Please keep this business going.

한국 음식이 그리울때마다 찾게되는 곳입니다. 조미료 맛이 강하긴 하지만 그래도 고향의 맛이다보니 계속해서 찾게 되네요. 한국 음식점은 대부분 비싸다는 편견이 있는데 이곳은 저렴하고 양많아서 너무 좋습니다. 전체적으로 이마트 푸드코너같은 느낌입니다. 여기서 먹는 재미도 그렇고 추억도 새록새록 떠올라서 개인적으로 좋아하는 곳입니다. 한인분들 꼭 한번 들려보세요!

My favorite store for dumplings and new flavors. Can’t visit without getting the infamous kimchi pork buns at the stand by the entrance. Add some laoganma spicy chili crisp to those buns and you’ll literally be in heaven 🤤

Would love to recommend this market. Great place to shop for all types of Asian food as well as sea food. They got all the meats in the back and a restaurant with a bunch of soups that are freshly made. The only down is how small the space is when it gets packed. I love the spicy octopus and beef soup is so 🔥 fire. The dumplings in the front are made fresh daily can choose from reg or spicy and sweet ones. 😋 the orange chicken is a must as well.

One of the best Korean markets in the Chicagoland area. So many great selections of Korean foods. Everything is really fresh and good quality, plus the prices aren't too expensive. I definitely recommend this market. They also have a few suburban locations as well.

The cafe inside Joong Boo Market is a hidden gem. We randomly ordered a bulgogi rice dish and a spicy beef soup with rice. Both were fabulous, fresh, and authentic. The bulgogi had a slightly sweet taste, and the soup was genuinely spicy (not just American spicy). It’s lovely to have a quick bite after shopping.
